A Bunch of Thoughts

November 4, 2026

Bismi Llāhir Raḥmānir Raḥīm Meaning: ‘In the name of Allāh, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful’. Allāh is the name of God Almighty.

So, this was originally meant for a previous blog of mine but I took it down because I didn’t like the attention. Also, that site wasn’t really meant to be a person blog. Anyways, it had been a while since I’d written anything there – which is why I drafted this article but then never got around to really posting it. It’s just a bunch of thoughts that had been floating around and need some grounding, I suppose.

Rant (?) about entertainment

Will today’s kids, the newer generation, ever know or understand the commitment it took one to sit down in front of the TV at a particular time every day to watch one’s favourite show? Will they ever know the excitement of coming home from school, running to the TV at home and trying to catch the repeat of an episode if you somehow missed it the day before? Yes, I know that it was something of a privilege to have a TV at home back in those days. We had an old TV at home and I was given access to it to an extent. I could lay back in the afternoon and relieve my mind of the worries of school. Will the children of tomorrow be able to recognise this privilege? I doubt it. Some children even have tablets and whatnot nowadays. In fact, this was the case for even a cousin of mine who is about ten or twelve years younger than me. sigh… Everything is just a tap away now and now it makes me feel like I’m a dusty old can sitting on a store shelf for years. I’ve been talking so much, esp. about today’s kids, but will I ever know that feeling again?

Back in the day, the shows that had my attention were Blassreiter, Kekkaishi and Bleach Even though I watched Bleach back then, I wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone because the author drew certain female characters in a dare-I-say perverted way, and the anime multiplied the perversion many more times.. I think I also liked Inuyasha because one of my school classmates (a brother) liked it. There was a brother who really liked “Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood” which I watched too but didn’t really follow because it seemed creepy to me. I watched “Buso Renkin” instead. Anyways, the one I really followed later on was Bleach. It was really long. It followed the story of Ichigo, the protagonist, and his friends. Goofy oddballs, the lot. It used to air on Animax then. I think I really loved the opening soundtracks at first but didn’t really like any of the endings or the later openings. The “now you feel like number one” in the background of Ichigo’s fights and whatnot was epic! But, of course, Animax went away later on. I think the Bount arc was being aired back then? I don’t remember anymore and I don’t think I have anything written down from that time to go back to and check.

After that, my only source for Bleach was the internet. I made it through the Bount arc and went into the Arrancar arc and I must admit that the Background Soundtrack of every IchihimeNot really a word I knew back then. I originally learnt it before the manga was ending through an Otaku group on Facebook. If I’m not mistaken, I think the younger sister of a classmate of mine was a big fan and posted stuff about this somewhere on Facebook which ended up on my feed – which is how I found out, then looked it up and learnt what it meant. The competing ship was Ichiruki – spoiler alert which didn’t end up happening. Didn’t really care much back then but I later thought that it was a bit sad, yet a sensible choice on the part of the author. scene was something else. I later found out that it was called “Soundscape to Ardor”Typical love music? LOL.. I didn’t really know what the music was called back then and I wasn’t really into mangas back then at all. However, I had dropped the anime somewhere in the Arrancar arc because I couldn’t take it anymore. However, my love for Bleach later got me going through the mangas just around the time the series ended. I think I skipped a lot of the Arrancar arc and just made up for it by going through synopses on Wikipedia and different fan wikis and the link. Hahaha… I think that was back in 2016(?). The anime has finished airing recently after a long break.

Rant about salt (???)

I originally wanted to rant about salt for some reason. However, I can’t remember why so now. I’m not even sure why I would want to rant about salt now. Perhaps the salt prices were changing drastically back then? Allāh taʿālā knows best. I didn’t really write anything down in the draft except for “Salt rants” so I’ll move on to the next topic.

Rant about getting stepped on during prayer

Being a victim of short carpet height at a prayer space, getting your head/shoulder stepped on and doing it to others accidentally. Have you experienced this too? Isn’t it such a pain? Usually, it’s a bigger issue during the Tarawīh prayers in RamaḍānThe ninth month of the Hijrī calendar (the twelve-month Muslim Lunar Calendar). because all the prayer spaces (including Masjids) are packed chock full of people. I think that all prayer spaces should account for slightly-taller-than-average people. Having a factor of safety, basically. Alḥamdu liLlāhi taʿālā in every situation, regardless.

Simplicity

Anyways, I’ve realised time and time again that simplicity is what I need usually. I’ve become a complicated person over the years and can’t handle too much of it anymore. I need some simplicity in my life, ʾin shã ʾAllāhu taʿālā. May Allāh taʿālā make all good things simple and easy for us. I need it for both worlds.

Thank you for reading. Bāraka Llāhu Fīk. As always, may peace be with you. ʾÃmīn.

Note: This article was originally drafted on 23 June 2025. It was completed today, Alḥamdu liLlāhi taʿālā.
