To share the the poetry and quotes that I love (and, hopefully, the love of literature) with others. Collected from different sources (webpages, poetry compilation books, etc.). I plead fair usage in any case.

মৃত্যুর ফেরেস্তা এসে যদি দেয় যাওয়ার তাকিদ;
নিরুপায় কিছু নাম, কিছু স্মৃতি কিংবা কিছু নয়;

The price of loving someone
very much is never loving
anyone again.
The thought once occurred to me that if one wanted to crush and destroy a man entirely, to mete out to him the most terrible punishment, one at which the most fearsome murderer would tremble, shrinking from it in advance, all one would have to do would be to make him do work that was completely and utterly devoid of usefulness and meaning.
Selected C. S. Lewis
Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lips, and sneer of cold contempt,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read,
Which yet survive, stamped on those lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is OZYMANDIUS, King of Kings.
Look on my works ye Mighty, and despair!”
No thing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Link to Quote on Rekhta

Ill-used persons, who are forced to load their minds with a score of subjects against an examination, who have too much on their hands to indulge themselves in thinking or investigation, who devour premise and conclusion together with indiscriminate greediness, who hold sciences on faith, and commit demonstrations to memory, and who too often, as might be expected, when their period of education is passed, throw up all they have learned in disgust, having gained nothing really by their anxious labours, except perhaps the habit of application.
An aging heart, the reign of hollow men,
A generation weaned on cruel defeat –
God’s help is near, but how, dear Lord, and when?
Though faith is firm, Earth shakes beneath my feet.Online I turn: a joke, an orphan’s cry.
With paralyzed confusion, I’m afraid
My heart’s grown cold; my tears have all run dry;
My hope’s abstract; my truths are all clichéd.But God is as His slave expects He be:
The Lord of saints and miracles is here.
When Palestine withstood the enemy,
Despite myself, my eyes welled up with tears. My hope’s restored. For this, I offer thanks
And pray I’m slain for God amongst their ranks.
Moustafa Elqabbany, Hope’s Redemption
মাঝে মধ্যে আমার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে আসে;
